Deliverability tools solve different parts of the problem

Do not buy “a deliverability tool” without defining the diagnostic job. Authentication checkers validate DNS and message identity. Warmup tools prepare mailbox activity. Inbox-placement tools send to seed accounts and report where messages land. Blocklist/reputation monitors watch for known problems. Verification tools reduce list risk. Sending platforms enforce account and campaign behavior.

A complete operating stack may combine several of these functions, whether they come from one vendor or multiple tools.

Instantly: account health plus separate Inbox Placement

Instantly's outreach product includes warmup and account management, while Inbox Placement is a separate subscription. Current first-party documentation says Inbox Placement can evaluate inbox/spam placement across Gmail and Microsoft seeds, inspect authentication, check content signals, monitor blocklists, and—on the higher tier—run automated recurring tests with actions such as pausing senders based on results.

This model fits a team already using Instantly that wants diagnostics close to the campaign and account layer. Budget for the separate Inbox Placement subscription rather than assuming it is included in the outreach price.

Smartlead: SmartDelivery alongside the sending engine

Smartlead's SmartDelivery is a dedicated deliverability suite within its ecosystem. Its reports cover inbox placement, tab placement, spam scoring, authentication checks, blocklist/IP information, and provider-level views. Because Smartlead also offers sender infrastructure products, agencies can evaluate sending and diagnostic layers from one vendor.

The tradeoff is the same as any integrated ecosystem: convenience is high, but you should understand which capabilities are part of the core subscription versus add-ons.

lemlist: Deliverability Hub connects warmup, outreach, and placement

lemlist's current Deliverability Hub brings together lemwarm, campaign delivery/bounce signals, and inbox-placement results. That integrated view is useful for multichannel teams that already use lemlist and want email health to sit alongside the outreach workflow.

If your team sends through several unrelated platforms, verify whether a vendor-specific hub can still observe the full sending estate or whether you need independent monitoring.

Apollo: deliverability inside the sales-intelligence workflow

Apollo's current platform includes warmup and deliverability guidance around domains, mailboxes, authentication, tracking, and sending limits. This is attractive when Apollo is already the central prospecting and engagement platform. A team whose sending infrastructure lives elsewhere may get less value from platform-native diagnostics.

How to evaluate a deliverability tool

NeedCapability to inspect
Prevent setup mistakesSPF/DKIM/DMARC and DNS checks
Prepare new accountsWarmup/ramp controls and account health
Detect placement problemsSeed coverage by provider and account
Diagnose reputationBlocklist/IP/domain monitoring
Protect campaigns automaticallyAlerts, pauses, webhooks, rules
Reduce bad-address riskEmail verification and suppression workflow

Testing is not prevention

An inbox-placement test can show that a problem exists; it does not prevent the behaviors that created it. Prevention lives in domain setup, list quality, conservative sending, monitoring, and fast response to bad signals. The best deliverability stack therefore makes it easy to move from observation to action.

Choose a tool that helps your team answer: Which sender is affected? Which provider is affected? What changed? What evidence points to the likely cause? What action can we take now?
